JUSTICE THAT WORKS FOR PEOPLE

Judge Sears believes that courts should be places of accountability and resolution, not fear.

Throughout her service, she has focused on:

  • Expanding access to justice for working families
  • Creating practical solutions that help people resolve legal issues and move forward
  • Supporting diversion and restorative justice programs for young people
  • Connecting veterans, unhoused individuals, and vulnerable populations with resources and opportunities for success
  • Making the court system faster, fairer, and more accessible
  • Ensuring every person who enters the courtroom leaves understanding their rights, their options, and their next step and responsibilities

Her philosophy is that justice works best when it balances accountability, compassion, and community safety. This focus on restorative and problem-solving approaches has been a consistent theme of her public service and judicial leadership.

A RECORD OF RESULTS

For eight years serving the People's Court, Judge Sears has built a record of practical leadership and measurable impact.

10,000+ Cases Resolved

Judge Sears has helped thousands of people resolve cases, warrants, and legal matters efficiently and fairly.

3,000+ Youth Diverted

Through the West Mesa Justice Court juvenile diversion program, thousands of young people have been held accountable while avoiding a record. They are assigned community service, academic presentations, and essays instead of a debt they cannot pay.

Innovative Problem-Solving Courts

Judge Sears has championed programs that help veterans, unhoused individuals, and others address underlying barriers while resolving outstanding legal matters, reflecting a broader commitment to community-based solutions.

Leadership During Difficult Times

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Judge Sears worked to protect families from eviction and maintain access to justice through virtual hearings while communities faced unprecedented challenges.

Historic Representation

In 2018, Judge Sears made history at 24 as Arizona's youngest elected judge and has continued to bring fresh perspectives, innovation, and community-centered leadership to the bench. She is the only Democrat to ever hold the role at the West Mesa Justice Court. She is one of only three Black female justices of the peace in Arizona history.
